Master

Doctoral Degree Cycle

On the basis of a bilateral agreement, some professors from Athenaeum University will guide candidates for the doctoral degree at the Romanian Academy , starting from the academic year 2007/2008 in the departments: economics, finances and banking, accounting.

The doctoral degree studies will be made according to the regulations in force regarding IOSD in Romania .

Regulations regarding the Master Degree studies

CHAPTER I

General stipulations

  • At Athenaeum University in Bucharest , the master degree studies are organized as long term post university education programs, on three semesters, in order to form professional competencies in prior concentration fields of the economical and administrative profile.
  • The master degree studies can be attended by graduates who have a bachelor degree diploma, no matter the profile, the institution or year when and where they have achieved the respective diploma.

CHAPTER II

Enrollment and registration

  • The registration for the master degree programs is made on the basis of the application form.
  • At registration, the personal record will be composed of:
    • application form;
    • the high education diploma in original or legalized copy;
    • birth certificate – legalized copy;
    • marriage certificate- legalized copy- if case;
    • medical certificate.
  • The student's enrolling for master degree programs at Athenaeum University is made through the Rector's decision, after fulfilling all the requirements.

CHAPTER III

Promotion and organization of master degree courses

  • The promotion of each semester is conditioned by achieving at least 30 credit points at compulsory and optional disciplines of the master education plan.
  • At master degree programs on a period of three semesters, the students who haven't accumulated the total number of 90 credit points foreseen in the education plan or those who have the average lower than 6 will be expulsed.
  • The length of a semester is of 14 weeks.
  • The didactic activities are based on modules, integrally studying a certain discipline on a compact period of time. The exams are taken during semesters after studying each discipline, retaking the non passed exams or increasing the mark is possible only during the rescheduled sessions.

CHAPTER IV

Knowledge assessment

  • The students' knowledge assessment is foreseen in the syllabus of each discipline and can be made through written exams, during year assessment and oral exams. The marks are given from 1 to 10 and the smallest promotion mark is 5.
  • The students have the right to take the final exam at a certain discipline only if they have fulfilled all their professional obligations (projects, practical works, essays, monographs) foreseen in the education plan and in the syllabus for the respective discipline, as well as all their financial obligations (the scholar tuition).
  • The knowledge assessment is made on dates and in classrooms established with the professor that has taught the respective discipline and the professor that has led the seminars and practical works.
  • The examiner establishes the marks given to students and has the obligation to sign for them in the register and to inform students about them. Absence at the exam is written in the register as “missing”, which means non-promoting.
  • The students can take the assessments they missed or that they haven't passed in the rescheduled session, with tax, no matter the number of acquired credit points. The services of knowledge assessment in the rescheduled session are paid, even if the students haven't been present at the normal sessions.
  • The students who haven't passed or have missed the exams at the respective disciplines, as well as those who want to increase their marks can take exams in the rescheduled session.

CHAPTER V

Study stoppage, reenrollment and transfers

  • The stoppage of studies is granted only once during the instruction period, at students' request, with the approval of the program director and of Athenaeum University's rector, for medical reasons, abroad trips for a period longer than 1 year or other well-founded and justified reasons.
  • When restarting the studies, the students have to comply with the requirements of the education plan in force and to pass the eventual differences exams. The differences exams are taken only with tax, in the current session or in the rescheduled one.
  • At Athenaeum University in Bucharest , the results of knowledge assessment in the inferior education cycle or from other master degree programs are not equated.
  • Transfers are not accepted at master degree programs.

CHAPTER VI

Elaboration and public assertion of dissertation

  • The master degree studies end with taking the dissertation exams; their promotion leads to receiving the Master Degree diploma, according to art. 72, par. 4 of Education Law no. 84/1995, republished, and of other legal terms in force.
  • The students will draw up suggestions regarding the dissertation's theme during the last semester of study. The deadlines for handing in the guiding written suggestions and thematic lists are established by the directors of the master degree programs.
  • The elaboration of the dissertation is made under the guidance of a professor chosen by the program's director.
  • The dissertation and its presentation are appreciated with marks given by all members of the committee. The minimum average required for promotion is six.
  • The acceptance for presenting the dissertation is conditioned by the acquiring of the total number of credit points established for the respective master degree program, with the minimum general average 5.
  • The presentation of the dissertation is made in front of a committee formed of a president, at least three permanent members and secretary without assessment right. The members of the committee are suggested by the program's director and are approved by the office of Athenaeum University 's Senate. The guiding professors for dissertation take part in the committee's works with the title of co-opted members and have assessment right.
  • For each master degree program is organized only one dissertation exam session. The students who have missed the exam or haven't got the minimum required average in the scheduled session for their promotion can take the dissertation exam only once more, in the next academic year, and will have to pay a tax.

CHAPTER VII

Other stipulations

  • Leaves or tax reduction are not offered for students enrolled in master degree programs.
  • The tax is paid in three equal parts, at the beginning of each semester.
  • The students who do not fulfill their financial obligations established by the Office of Athenaeum University's Senate and announce them public will be expulsed.
  • The students who benefit of the instruction period's extension or of stoppage for medical reason have the obligation – when starting the activity- to pay the tax difference.
